Folk Arts The ARTS' Folk Arts program serves the public, artists, arts/cultural organizations and schools throughout the Southern Tier. Partially funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, its primary purpose is to support folk art traditions practiced in the region, and develop and support programming that enables the public to experience these traditions as well as those of other parts of the world. Since 1986, The ARTS, often in collaboration with local arts/cultural organizations, has initiated a host of exhibitions, demonstrations and events, including the Old Time Fiddlers' Gathering, held since 1989 at Watkins Glen State Park. In addition to the annual Fiddlers' Gathering, recent activities include Lace: The Spaces Between in collaboration with the Benjamin Patterson Inn in Corning; collaboration with community groups on folk arts window displays at The Gallery @ The ARTS; a major exhibition at the Chemung Valley History Museum on local country musician Floyd Woodhull; and more.
