The ARTS Council is embarking on a year of programming to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Suffrage in New York State. Women were granted the right to vote in New York in 1917, but not on a National level until the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920. New York State is celebrating the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage from 2017 to 2020 as a way to honor the women who fought so hard to gain the right to vote and educate the public about the suffering and commitment these women gave so we could all enjoy this basic human right without question.
From our gallery exhibition to our Remember the Ladies oral history project, we have something for everyone to participate in and hopefully become inspired by!
