Collageshop is a two-part workshop made up of two 1-hour workshops presented on Zoom.
Tay Butler will teach a brief presentation on the history of collage and highlight applications, methodologies, uses, and notable artists (especially Black artists) who work in the vast and expansive medium of collage, as well as cover some of his work and connection to collage. The goal is to convey why collage is so important as an art practice.
Following this talk, Tay will explain some of his artistic processes and methodologies. Approximately 20 minutes of presentation will lead straight into the workshop portion, where he will watch students make their own collage, helping to answer any questions or concerns every step of the way.
3 pm MT on July 15, 2020, Part 1 consists of the history, applications, and compositions of collage. It will conclude with the composition of an original collage for each student.
3 pm MT on July 22, 2020, Part 2 will continue where part 1 left off, migrating a finished collage or isolated compositions to the scanner where digital collage techniques will be explored.
Each one-hour workshop is $20 for non-members. If you sign up for both workshops the total fee is $30.00
