Join The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes and the Watkins Glen Public Library for a kite-making workshop with Shahid Ejaz on August 5 and August 12 from 11am to 1pm at the Watkins Glen Library at 610 S Decatur St in Watkins Glen, NY.
Shahid grew up in Pakistan and learned traditional kite-making techniques. Making and flying kites is a part of the Basant Panchami Festival, a cultural tradition in Pakistan. Now Shahid brings his knowledge to Watkins Glen for a two-session kite-making workshop. Shahid will walk the group through the steps of making a small kite using balsam wood and tissue paper, a substitute for the traditional kite-making papers used in Pakistan. When complete, we’ll try our hand at flying the kites outside.
This workshop is free and open to the public. We have a class limit of 10 so advanced registration is highly encouraged. This workshop is suitable for ages 10 through adult. Anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Date: Saturday, August 5 and Saturday, August 12
Time: 11am-1pm
Where: Watkins Glen Public Library, 610 S Decatur St, Watkins Glen, NY
