ELMIRA, NY, January 2024 — TALE, the Teen Acting Lab of Elmira, an immersive acting and
playwriting program for Chemung County students in 7th-12th grade, kicks off on February
6th, 2024, at Steele Memorial Library Teen Space. TALE is a free theater arts training program
for all 7th-12th grade students. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM to
7 PM at the Steele Library Teen Space throughout 2024.
In addition to providing a comprehensive theatrical training experience, TALE will be a space
for participants to create original plays for performance. TALE is led by nationally touring actor
and playwright Tim Collins, an artist and educator with over twenty years of experience
working with students. “TALE will be an artistic safe space for students to experiment, explore,
and create,” says Collins. “Not only will participants develop their skills in acting, public
speaking, and writing, they’ll have the opportunity to perform in full productions of both classic
and original plays.”
TALE is open to all Chemung County students, 7th-12th grade. Classes begin February 6th,
2024, and are held every Tuesday and Thursday in the Teen Space at Steele Library in Elmira,
NY. Classes are free, registration is not required, and students may attend any number of
classes. TALE is for all students at any level of experience in acting and writing. TALE is made
possible by support from the Triangle Fund and the Anderson Foundation.
