A pioneer of highly sophisticated English concertina song accompaniments, Steve Turner stretches the boundaries of traditional music. A fine singer, he will play tunes not only on concertina, but also mandolin. His 9th recording was released in 2023 and also features Martin Carthy.

“Steve’s singing and playing here is majestic. He brings a new depth and quality to song accompaniments on the concertina. One of the old guard of the folk revival has come up with one of its finest albums”
– F/Roots Vic Smith

“Steve shines as one of a handful of performers not merely continuing traditional music, but keeping it very much alive. His deep, thoughtful interpretations really take you into the ballad. … There is little as gripping as a traditional ballad well delivered, and Steve delivers better than UPS. “—Rich Warren, WFMT Chicago
