Hello Friends and Patrons of the Hornell Area Wind Ensemble,
The ensemble is presenting its annual Memorial Day weekend concert on Saturday, May 28, at 8:00 pm in the Hornell High School’s auditorium. Our guest conductor this year is Lt. Col. James ‘Scott’ McKenzie, United States Army. Also, we will feature our guest soloist, SSG Charles M. ‘Chaz’ Sonoda, United States Army, Pershing’s Own.
We are proud and honored to have both these active duty members of the United States Army with us to honor the Veterans of our community who gave their ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Also, we look forward to honoring all Veterans, past and currently serving on this Memorial Day weekend.
Please pass the word of our concert by forwarding this message to as many people as you would like. There are two attachments. One gives some insight into the pieces we will be performing for you. The second is our poster for this concert.
This 2021-2022 season has had some challenges, following a two year hiatus thanks to the pandemic. Our ensemble group is growing back, and we welcome players who would feel comfortable with the music we perform. Also, I am hoping the audience for this up-coming concert will spring back to what previous Memorial Day weekend concerts have had in attendance. We began this annual concert with United States military presence in the year 2000.
