Student Art Society

Are you a high school or college art student living in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben or Tioga county? Become a member of the Student Artist Society through our Student Sponsorship program!

Joining the Student Artist Society will give you experience working as an artist, opportunities to be a part of a strong local artists community, and a chance to have your work shown in our gallery. A Sponsored Student Artist would receive the following benefits:

Special opportunities for Student Artist Members:

  • Access to the Student Artist Society Facebook page where members can share work, consider new creative ideas, explore practical elements of their craft, exchange notes on professional, personal, and educational art goals and opportunities, share resources and interests, and develop community with other young artists and arts professionals
  • An invitation to the Student Artist Society Portfolio Review sessions where each member can participate in a one on one review of their student artist portfolio with an art professor and/or industry artist. Members can also engage in a group review where they will receive feedback from other student artists.
  • An invitation to studio hops which allow students to see first-hand how colleges and professional artists set up and maintain space for their creative work.

Additionally, Student Artist Members will have access to the following benefits and opportunities:

  • Ability to show your work at The Gallery at The ARTS Council, and to participate in special events, including Gallery Hops
  • Participation in career development and other community activities, and access to opportunities for artists of all disciplines
  • Community and fellowship with working artists
  • Inclusion in the Artist Member Directory at and in The ARTS Council’s weekly e-newsletter, inspire!
  • Priority display of events and news on The ARTS Council’s searchable Arts Calendar
  • Access to The ARTS Council’s database for email and surface mail announcements
