Join the Conversation:

Do you have stories to tell or information to share about fruit heritage in the region? Contribute to our archive of information about old orchards, cider mills, fruit cultivation, and fermentation in the Finger Lakes region at our mobile documentation booth.  Especially seeking stories of the States Cider Mill in Odessa.

What to bring for Documentation Days:

  • Personal stories of harvest, cider, cooking, canning, planting, pruning, & farming
  • Photographs, Property Maps, or Documents that illustrate your story
  • Record a short interview or leave your contact information for follow up

Find your Fruit:

Do you have an old orchard or apple tree on your property? Do you want to know what the apples are? Come to our Apple Identification Day at Reisinger’s Apple Country to learn about your fruit from our pomologist panel including Dr. Greg Peck of Cornell University and John Reynolds of Blackduck Cidery, and tell your fruit stories at the Documentation Booth. In cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schuyler County.

What to bring for Apple Identification:

  • Bring 3-5 representative apples from each tree that you want to ID.
  • Historical or horticultural  info about the tree
  • Take home all apples and plant material that you bring – leave nothing at the orchard to avoid the spread of plant diseases
