    Melora Johnson

Melora Johnson grew up in a small town in Upstate New York.  She knew that she wanted to write at an early age. She still lives in Upstate New York with her husband, daughter, a black cat, and quite a few chickens. She is a full-time public librarian with a bachelor’s degree in English. She writes mainly poetry, science-fiction, fantasy, horror, and dabbles in other genres. She also runs a thriving writer’s group. Of course, into every life a little rain must fall as well as the occasional tornado, but you’ll find that amply covered in her writing.

For me, writing is a way to reach out and connect with others and, hopefully, to help them feel connected.  I believe that the connection which writing and reading can bring dispels the illusion of our distance and loneliness.  I write because I have something to say, a story to tell, either that I think will interest someone or help them in some way.  I write for others but, even more so, I write for myself.  I use my writing to explore ideas and situations, to exorcise my demons, to reflect upon and respond to the world around me, or to explain my thinking about a subject.  I write because it’s how I make sense of the world and how I express my outrage or joy.  I write, in part, because I like to write.  It’s fun.  I like to play with words, like some kids like to build castles with sand.  I’d say that’s reason enough.  It has led me to take the idea to “write the story you want to read” to heart.  I know, occasionally, I write something and think – oh, that’s nice, I like that.  And that’s just plain fun.

    Christy Nicholas

Christy Nicholas, also known as Green Dragon, is an author, artist and accountant. After she failed to become an airline pilot, she quit her ceaseless pursuit of careers that begin with ‘A’, and decided to concentrate on her writing. Since she has Project Completion Compulsion, she is one of the few authors with NO unfinished novels. Christy has her hands in many crafts, including digital art, beaded jewelry, writing, and photography. In real life, she’s a CPA, but having grown up with art all around her (her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother are/were all artists), it sort of infected her, as it were.

She wants to expose the incredible beauty in this world, hidden beneath the everyday grime of familiarity and habit, and share it with others. She uses characters out of time and places infused with magic and myth, writing magical realism stories in both historical fantasy and time travel flavors. Combine this love of beauty with a bit of financial sense and you get an art business. She does local art and craft shows, as well as sending her art to various science fiction conventions throughout the country and abroad.
