Poetry and Dance

From poetry to dance and back again, this stunning showcase will take you on a journey that took a year to complete. In early 2020 The ARTS Council enlisted three poets and three dancers/choreographers to join us on this challenging project.

We began with one poem from our first poet and that poem was passed along to our first dancer/choreographer who created a dance piece inspired by the poem. Since we were all in lock down at this time, the dance had to be recorded and that recording was sent to the next poet, who wrote a poem inspired by the dance. This went on for the remainder of the year, going back and forth between poet and dancer/choreographer without any of the artists seeing any of the pieces except the one that came directly before them.
