In five days, 120 professional artists, parents & grandparents, children, students, and other community members joined The ARTS Council for an inaugural arts community service effort: a collaborative mural mosaic.
Thanks to a National Day of Service and Remembrance Mini-Grant made possible by 2-1-1 Helpline through the Regional Volunteer Center of the Southern Tier, we transformed The Gallery @ The ARTS Council into a working studio. During the week of 9/11, 2014, our corps of volunteer artists filled 120 four-inch square canvas boards, sharing color, images, and sometimes words of hope and heart with children receiving grief services from CareFirst in Corning, NY! The 120-panel mural has been installed in the counseling rooms at CareFirst in Coopers Plains, NY.
