Art Supply Awards Support Local Classrooms
More than 40 educators contributed their students’ artwork for display in the 2015 National Youth Art Month exhibits. In total, nearly 1600 pieces of artwork were displayed in 54 locations in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and part of Tioga counties.
These educators provide art education to students from pre-primary through 12th grade students, along with one group of adults with special needs. From whimsical images of animals and brightly colored pop-art to mixed media collage and realistic self-portraiture, their students’ artwork showcases an incredible range of subject, media, and expression.
This range highlights the breadth of faculty talent and skill in nurturing such variety of artistic expression. In support of ongoing creative work in local schools, three awards for classroom art supplies have been given by random drawing to a faculty member in each of the participating counties.
The 2015 award winners were Dale Witkowski, Diven Elementary School, Gina Pfleegor, Hammondsport Junior/Senior High School, and Dawn Coleman, Watkins Glen Elementary School.
The ARTS Council wishes to thank the Abeel Bovee Community Foundation Trust for its support of the project locally, including making possible these Art Supply Awards.
