S. Roberts Rose Achievement Award

Given at the discretion of The ARTS Council's Board of Directors, the Rose Award was established in 2001 in memory of long-time friend and regional arts supporter, S. Roberts Rose of Elmira. Bob Rose was involved in countless arts and community organizations, working across county lines to grow and sustain the arts; this award honors these achievements by recognizing individuals and groups that follow his example.

2016 S. Roberts Rose Achievement Award Recipient:
Lee F. Baldwin

Lee F. BaldwinLee Baldwin has been a diligent advocate for the arts in our region, serving on boards and committees across county lines to enrich our lives and our communities. Some of the organizations that she has played pivotal roles in include the Corning Philharmonic Society (CPS), the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (OSFL), and 171 Cedar Arts Center. In these organizations Lee has focused extensively on organizational, administrative, and development support, with particular foresight of current and future needs in the Southern Finger Lakes. She was an essential part of planning and executing the merger between CPS and the Elmira Symphony & Choral Society, and she continues to work with the OSFL to maintain the presence of live classical music in the tri-county area. Her additional involvement in 171 Cedar Arts Center has been a true asset for the work of this essential arts organization. Lee has demonstrated her dedication to the arts for over 50 years, and we are honored to present her with the 2016 S. Roberts Rose Achievement Award

“…Lee has been involved in arts organizations in Chemung and Steuben counties for many years. Music, art, and gardening are her passions and through these loves, she has made the Elmira-Corning area a better place to live”
