Presented by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes in the Houghton Gallery at 171 Cedar Arts Center, Corning, New York, Salvaged featured five regional outsider artists: Kev Card, Tom "Holy Moses" Kerr, Amos Oakden, Martha Robertshaw, and Bob Smith. The exhibit was open January 13 through March 21, 2014.
Through the display of sometimes jarring, sometimes visionary outsider art, Salvaged placed at the center of attention the creative work of those often relegated to the social periphery, placing the outsider in a role typically reserved for trained artists as legitimate informants on the human experience. This exhibit is an attempt to salvage some deeper connection within the community, that expression that links us as human beings.
