Artist Members of The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes pursue all kinds of creative endeavors. We have painters, collage artists, ceramic artists, sculptors, glass artists, illustrators, comic artists, photographers, designers, musicians, actors, dancers, and the list goes on. Our visual artists range from modern to photo-realistic, and from beginners to artists who have been studying for decades. The variety in other disciplines is just as widespread, and this eclectic group of amazing individuals is part of what makes The ARTS Council so unique. The ARTS Council’s Artist Membership benefits artists in several ways.
The Evelyn Peeler Peacock Gallery: Showing in our Gallery can be beneficial for you in many different ways depending on where you are in your career. If you are just starting out, participating in our Member and Juried shows can give you a feel for how to show in a professional gallery setting, while experienced artists can benefit from having an additional community-based location where your work can be found by potential buyers.
Programming: Discounts on our programming throughout the year is a great way to use your Artist membership. For the literary-minded, our Poets in Play series has been so popular that we have started a second series called The Writers Block for prose writers. Our Business of Art program series is going as strong as always, covering the nitty gritty of making a living as an artist. So far the series has covered topics as wide ranging as how to sell your work through advice on taxes. Keep in touch to hear about new programming during the year!
Online Promotion: Do you have a show coming up? Are you teaching a class at a local community center? Let us know! Our Calendar and bi-weekly eNewsletter, inspire! goes to over 1,700 people and is reaching more people in our community every month. Last year our Calendar reached a record 20,311 views. We also have our new and improved online directory where you can add a gallery of images and tell our community more about you and your work.
