Color and negative space are probably the strongest forces driving Barbara's artwork.  Always experimenting and incorporating new media and techniques, her works are diverse yet there is a consistency in her use of color. "Transience intrigues me, and that is what I try to capture in my works with color and negative space: a sense of looking through or beyond time, another dimension or even an unknown." Overall, Barbara's works are small but filled with color and passion. There is a sense of controlled abandon, allowing things to happen yet with direction. "Chance.  And by chance I mean looking for the opening or opportunities in a work as it changes. That, for me, is when art becomes electric."

There is beauty everywhere and I try to be open to see that.  A rusty truck or bones whitened on the ground can demonstrate the relationship of objects and colors, and can be beautiful.  I use many different media and methods to make my work including photography, acrylic fluid painting, drawing, and scratchboards.

I graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 1998 with a Bachelors of Art in Graphic Design and a Bachelors of Science in Communication. In 2000, I decided to pursue my Masters in Art Education at Elmira College while also starting a career as an illustrator. I began teaching art at Hammondsport High School shortly thereafter as well as illustrating material for magazines and various promotional material. My first illustrated children’s book, entitled I Like Gum (written by Doreen Tango Hampton), was published in 2007 by Shenanigan Books. For the next several years, I went on to have dozens of children’s books and educational material published by McGraw Hill, the Brown Publishing Network, and many more. In 2013, I had an artistic change of heart and began a new journey as a photorealist painter working primarily in oils. My current work has been accepted into juried shows throughout the region and has won several major awards. You can see my work regularly at the gallery of the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes and West End Gallery in beautiful Corning, NY.

    Katina Bertrand

Hello, my name is Katina Bertrand! I'm a 20 year old college student who's about to receive an Associate's Degree, and I plan to move on to a Bachelor's Degree in Art. I've always loved drawing and creating stories through my art, but it wasn't until my second year of college that I decided to pursue it as my own career. I spent so much of my life refusing to let myself think about a career in art. It wasn't until I realized that I would never be happy if I pursued a career solely for the stability. I wouldn't be me if I did fight for my own happiness no matter the risk. I'm here to show the world that it's okay to take a chance and make a difference in your life. I hope you will join me in this mission.

    Marc Rubin

Marc Rubin paints still lifes that invite meaning and evoke story. He captures everyday objects at eye-level and sized in the frame as they are in the world, but he imbues them with a spirit and presence so that, emotionally, they become larger than life. They say things like: I'm tired, but grateful. I'm beautiful, and I will die. I'm here — do you see me? Rubin’s masterfully painted representational oils are exhibited in galleries throughout the Northeast.

    Paul McKinley

My name is Paul McKinley. I grew up in the Southern Tier of New York State. After graduating from high School, I attended college in Buffalo N.Y.I graduated from Daemen College in 1983 with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. After college, I returned the southern tier , to live and work. I have been married for over 30 years and live in Bath. The inspiration for my drawings primarily comes from my fascination with the human face. The face tells our story .It projects anger, fear, happiness and sadness. It is the window to the inner psych, to subconscious motives, and the key to identity. I have had a life time fascination with this subject matter. I have depicted it in many different ways. My drawings usually don't represent one person but a mixture of many. They are not meant to be flattering but instead reflect what lies deeper within one's psyche. A face is our point of recognition. We project our fears onto those who do not look the same as us. I have yet to lose interest in exploring new ways to represent this subject matter. I have shown locally and in regional shows. I have had pieces accepted in the Rochester -Finger Lakes Exhibition, Business of Arts -Artists of the Southern Tier Finger Lakes Show and at the Arnot Art Museum, Regional Art Exhibition. I also show periodically at The Evelyn Peeler Peacock Gallery in Corning. N.Y.
