Barbara Hall Blumer(pronounced Bloomer) (born 1955, USA) lives in Corning, New York in the Finger Lakes region of western New York state. She is a fine arts oil painter (and B&W art photographer),  currently on sabbatical.  She maintained a studio and gallery in Corning, on historic Market Street, for the last 7 years but is taking time off to travel and create a new body of work.  Her paintings are done mostly in oils, and are colorful interpretations of her view of the world and relationships.  These are available here at the ARTS gallery or directly from the artist.  Her black and white photographs are storytelling opportunities.  They are observations of people and nature which make you think twice and look closer.  These are available for mostly public venues, please inquire.  She has an Art History degree from Brown University, and a prior business career, including Dansk Designs, Corning Incorporated and Two Sisters Studio jewelry. She began seriously studying painting and photography in the 90’s and had her first exhibit in 2003.  You can follow Barbara’s work on her blog, www.barbarahallblumer.blogspot.com Email: barbblumer@gmail.com Please feel free to contact her at BarbBlumer@gmail.com, or 607-368-5732

    Gina Pfleegor

I graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 1998 with a Bachelors of Art in Graphic Design and a Bachelors of Science in Communication. In 2000, I decided to pursue my Masters in Art Education at Elmira College while also starting a career as an illustrator. I began teaching art at Hammondsport High School shortly thereafter as well as illustrating material for magazines and various promotional material. My first illustrated children’s book, entitled I Like Gum (written by Doreen Tango Hampton), was published in 2007 by Shenanigan Books. For the next several years, I went on to have dozens of children’s books and educational material published by McGraw Hill, the Brown Publishing Network, and many more. In 2013, I had an artistic change of heart and began a new journey as a photorealist painter working primarily in oils. My current work has been accepted into juried shows throughout the region and has won several major awards. You can see my work regularly at the gallery of the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes and West End Gallery in beautiful Corning, NY.

  • Profile picture of Laura Charles
    Laura Charles

My name is Laura Charles and my work is done with both digital and traditional media, starting with paper, pencil and ink, and finishing in Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. I am also a huge fan of experimenting in oil paints and charcoal and I regularly  sketch in my sketchbook. I am teaching classes at 171 Cedar Arts Center in Corning, New York and I am always looking for exciting projects in book and game illustration or in concept art! I've known since my first scribbles on my mothers legal pads that my calling was in visual storytelling. I supposed that it was the result of the hours I would spend holed up in my room reading fantasy stories and creating my own adventures with my stuffed animals and pets. Becoming an illustrator was the natural result of my attraction to story, since even when reading my favorite childhood authors, I was never far from my crayons and paper where I would draw favorite scenes of books I read, or those of my own made-up world. In school, I was, of course, and incurable doodler. Now my doodling has earned me my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from The Cleveland Institute of Art and a Masters of Fine Arts in Visual Development for 2D Animation from The Academy of Arts University. You can my www.LauraCharlesStudio.com and view my portfolio, or my Art Blog. If you would like to hire me, or have any questions about my process, check out my Contact page!

    Marc Rubin

Marc Rubin paints still lifes that invite meaning and evoke story. He captures everyday objects at eye-level and sized in the frame as they are in the world, but he imbues them with a spirit and presence so that, emotionally, they become larger than life. They say things like: I'm tired, but grateful. I'm beautiful, and I will die. I'm here — do you see me? Rubin’s masterfully painted representational oils are exhibited in galleries throughout the Northeast.

Over the years I have created in just about every medium out there. While I love painting in oil and acrylic, writing has remained my main area of focus. I have written two novels and a children's picture book. For the last several years I've been concentrating on screenwriting. I'm hoping that during 2020 the animated script I've written from a producer's idea will come to the screen. Since there's a lot of serendipity in play when it comes to getting a movie made, my fingers are crossed for my other scripts to get produced, too. Stay tuned!
