When the choice had to be made which career path to set out on, the toss-up was between nursing school and art school. Nursing won out, but I kept drawing and painting throughout the years. I fell in love with watercolor a long time ago, and although I enjoy other mediums too, watercolor is still my medium of choice. I paint mostly landscapes, and through these try to express the love I have for nature.

Color and negative space are probably the strongest forces driving Barbara's artwork.  Always experimenting and incorporating new media and techniques, her works are diverse yet there is a consistency in her use of color. "Transience intrigues me, and that is what I try to capture in my works with color and negative space: a sense of looking through or beyond time, another dimension or even an unknown." Overall, Barbara's works are small but filled with color and passion. There is a sense of controlled abandon, allowing things to happen yet with direction. "Chance.  And by chance I mean looking for the opening or opportunities in a work as it changes. That, for me, is when art becomes electric."

I'm amazed. Again and again. Most every time I walk out my door. My eyes see a world full of delights: beauty, drama, peace and awe. Photography allows me to dwell in these delights. It's hope to get beyond the technology, gear and toys so that my focus (can't help the pun) can be experiencing the delight more deeply and sharing it with others.

    Debb VanDelinder

Born in 1961, American artist Debb VanDelinder is a digital media artist working in the Southern Tier of New York. Vandelinder works in Scanography, also known as scanner photography. Her work is most notable for her large-scale natural images. She uses flowers, fruit, bones, eggs, rock and other natural objects in unusual and unexpected combinations to convey her meanings. Strongly influenced by the works of artists Georgia O'Keeffe and Andy Goldworthy, VanDelinder has said, "I think it is interesting to combine objects out of context. I enjoy creating meaning through these juxtapositions. My particular challenge is to communicate the emotions, situations, allegories and experiences of human life, via still life. The path of my experience is what I draw on. The meanings are archetypical and universal. The images I make represent pieces of my own personal history, and echo the story of a collective humanity. "VanDelinder's work was first recognized nationally in 2002 when she was chosen as one of 30 international digital artists for the MacWorld Digital Art Gallery. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the Upstate Regions of New York, around the country and most recently in Santa Fe, NM where she was chosen for inclusion in Decadence (curated by John O'Hern) at EVOKE Contemporary. VanDelinder is represented by Exhibit A Comptemporary Art, in Corning NY. Her profile will appear in the March 2012 issue of Professional Artist Magazine. I enjoy making artwork that is both from my imagination as well as having a reality aspect to it. I do a very wide variety of art including; drawing, painting, three dimensional design, and graphic design. Art is my life and I enjoy making it part of other peoples lives. I live to teach other people about different kinds of art and to create art from my heart for people around me. My art is successful when the viewer not only looks at the art, but also feels the hidden emotions behind it.

    Laura Charles

My name is Laura Charles and my work is done with both digital and traditional media, starting with paper, pencil and ink, and finishing in Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. I am also a huge fan of experimenting in oil paints and charcoal and I regularly  sketch in my sketchbook. I am teaching classes at 171 Cedar Arts Center in Corning, New York and I am always looking for exciting projects in book and game illustration or in concept art! I've known since my first scribbles on my mothers legal pads that my calling was in visual storytelling. I supposed that it was the result of the hours I would spend holed up in my room reading fantasy stories and creating my own adventures with my stuffed animals and pets. Becoming an illustrator was the natural result of my attraction to story, since even when reading my favorite childhood authors, I was never far from my crayons and paper where I would draw favorite scenes of books I read, or those of my own made-up world. In school, I was, of course, and incurable doodler. Now my doodling has earned me my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from The Cleveland Institute of Art and a Masters of Fine Arts in Visual Development for 2D Animation from The Academy of Arts University. You can my www.LauraCharlesStudio.com and view my portfolio, or my Art Blog. If you would like to hire me, or have any questions about my process, check out my Contact page!

Teaching Arts has been the most fulfilling job I have ever had, and ever will have. Working with children and seeing how creative they can be, how they can see the world so differently than an adult, is so inspiring to say the least. Watching students succeed in the Arts classroom where they my not succeed elsewhere is rewarding. The, building upon that success and using it in their other classes; that is incredible. Unfortunately too many schools have cut Art from their curriculum, that is how I have ended up teaching Special Ed. Oils, pastels, and acrylics have been my mediums of choice however I do like to experiment with other mediums, seeing where it leads; always learning.

    Steve Seaberg

Artist. Poet. Photographer. Philosopher. I work with color, line, word, and sound to transfer energy to a variety of surfaces, including canvas, board, paper, human eyes and ears, and the inquisitive soul. Most pieces evolve as improvisational conversations. Pencil, brush, pen, camera, or keypad, disrupt the surface and open a play-space for meaning. When a work works, the energy that generated it re-generates in one who witnesses it. A successful work keeps the conversation in play. I seek to cultivate a "jazz sensibility" by transforming trouble into beauty and fostering the conditions to help one another experience the delights of being alive together. For me, art teaches life.

Over the years I have created in just about every medium out there. While I love painting in oil and acrylic, writing has remained my main area of focus. I have written two novels and a children's picture book. For the last several years I've been concentrating on screenwriting. I'm hoping that during 2020 the animated script I've written from a producer's idea will come to the screen. Since there's a lot of serendipity in play when it comes to getting a movie made, my fingers are crossed for my other scripts to get produced, too. Stay tuned!
