I am constantly amazed at our human need to create. It permeates everything we do and everything we are. The need to take the world around us and transform it with a piece of ourselves is the most essential part of being human - and the most universal. I am Ann Cady and I own ARC Photographic Images in Elmira, a photo studio that specializes in art documentation. Whether it's for a show, a gallery, or a potential buyer on your website, your work should be portrayed both accurately and beautifully. Barbara Hall Blumer(pronounced Bloomer) (born 1955, USA) lives in Corning, New York in the Finger Lakes region of western New York state. She is a fine arts oil painter (and B&W art photographer),  currently on sabbatical.  She maintained a studio and gallery in Corning, on historic Market Street, for the last 7 years but is taking time off to travel and create a new body of work.  Her paintings are done mostly in oils, and are colorful interpretations of her view of the world and relationships.  These are available here at the ARTS gallery or directly from the artist.  Her black and white photographs are storytelling opportunities.  They are observations of people and nature which make you think twice and look closer.  These are available for mostly public venues, please inquire.  She has an Art History degree from Brown University, and a prior business career, including Dansk Designs, Corning Incorporated and Two Sisters Studio jewelry. She began seriously studying painting and photography in the 90’s and had her first exhibit in 2003.  You can follow Barbara’s work on her blog, www.barbarahallblumer.blogspot.com Email: barbblumer@gmail.com Please feel free to contact her at BarbBlumer@gmail.com, or 607-368-5732

I am a glass flameworking professional with diverse experience in glass flameworking, teaching, and presenting. I have degrees in mechanical engineering and computer science, and have always loved glass. My major life change came when I had the great opportunity to work in Corning, NY and was "smitten" by glass. My first date with my husband was a hands-on open house at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY.  I left the "engineering-faith" so to speak to use the artistic side of my brain full time in 2006. I have taught over 10 years at The Corning Museum of Glass and local studios.  I have been a teaching assistant for world class glass artists such as Paul Stankard, Emilio Santini, Debbie Tarsitano, Loren Stump, etc. I have participated in juried shows and exhibits at the Glass Art Society Conference, West End Gallery, Clothesline, Arts in the Gardens, etc.  My work has been published in magazines such as: The Flow Magazine, LAMMAGA, The GlassBead Magazine, and the Canandaigua Magazine. I now have my own studio in Honeoye, NY (the lovely Finger Lakes region).

She started college pursuing a fine arts degree at the University of Mary Washington, changed her major to Economics, and then went on to get her MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. After a full career in the business world, which included expatriate assignments in Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai, she returned to her creative side. I believe every morning is an opportunity to play dress up, to create yourself as a walking piece of art. Jewelry is one of the most versatile and influential statements that can be made by fashion. A funky necklace can be a conversation starter, or can symbolize a time, place, or event unique to its possessor. As an artist, I reap my inspiration from the people I have met, the places I have experienced, and from the dreams of where I hope to find myself. Bold brights are inspirations from the women in my family, the use of turquoise and coral remind me of sights from the South West, the use of feathers and bone represent my affection for our fur and feathered friends. I hope that every piece that I create not only has a story behind it, but also an adventure laying ahead.
